1. Story Mode:
In Story Mode, players follow Goku’s adventures from the Dragon Ball series. Most of the story arcs are included, except for the Piccolo Junior storyline. Throughout the game, players can collect various items, many of which are hidden. These items can boost the player’s health or ki, and include objects like Master Roshi’s sunglasses and Mercenary Tao’s cyborg headgear. Initially, players can only control Goku, but after completing Goku’s Story Mode once, they can also play as Krillin. However, Krillin’s mode lacks cutscenes and story elements. Other characters cannot be played in Story Mode. There are three main types of levels:
Platform: Goku/Krillin navigate an area and fight enemies.
Nimbus: Goku/Krillin battles enemies in the air on the Flying Nimbus.
One-On-One: Characters fight individually, similar to the World Martial Arts Tournaments. Goku doesn’t use his Power Pole in this mode, so his moves differ.
2. One-On-One Mode:
This mode features one-on-one battles between the player and opponents, akin to boss battles in the game. Players can choose the location and duration of fights. Initially, Goku and Krillin are available, but defeating certain one-on-one characters in Story Mode unlocks them as playable characters, including Jackie Chun, Mercenary Tao, Grandpa Gohan, Tien Shinhan, King Piccolo, and Cyborg Tao.
3. Versus Mode:
Versus Mode allows two players to compete against each other, offering most options available in One-on-One Mode.
4. Extra Mode:
Unlocked after completing Goku’s Story Mode, Extra Mode revisits all Story Mode levels without cutscenes. Players have access to all levels from the start, and additional objectives include defeating Murasaki in the Yamcha boss battle and performing the Wolf Fang Fist GBA move. Red doors throughout levels can now be opened, offering more items. By finding all 54 items, players unlock mini-games. The Extra Mode Character List includes 29 characters, each with a hidden portrait in a level that must be found to unlock the character for use. It’s recommended to play through Extra Mode with each character to learn their moves.
